　英語に翻訳しづらい単語

　昨日の通訳講座で講師が最近日英通訳で一番難しかった言葉は、
　「忖度」だと話していました。
　
　日本らしい単語だと思いますが、
　オンラインの辞書で調べてみたら、
　最近検索された単語のトップは、「忖度」でした。
　
　皆さん、気になっていたみたいです。
　でも、英語にしてニュアンス伝わるかなあ？？？

　国会の証人喚問の後、外国人記者クラブでの説明で
　通訳が苦労した上、さらに意味がわかりにくいと質問がとんだそうです。

　朝日新聞では、
　「忖度（そんたく）」は、便利なようでずるい日本語。「よろしくお願いします」って、色んな意味を含み過ぎて英訳できない。
　とコメントが載っていたのだとか。。。

　通訳の追加コメントは、
　Just to add as an interpreter’s note, the word “sontaku” is leading to some confusion in the English translation. There are several different ways to say this; whether it’s “conjecture” or “surmise,” “reading between the lines,” “reading what someone is implying.” So there is not one direct word in English which is what lead to this, just to add some information.
